De Jager Signs produces the highest quality cedar signs. Our signs are made using only the best materials and with an almost obsessive attention to detail. From the first design sketch right through to delivery, we are fully commited to your project and we bring to bear all our creativity and abilities to create the best possible sign.
We use only Architectural Clear, Western Red Cedar. The rot and pest resistant properties of this wood make it an ideal material to use for exterior signs. The light weight of the wood and it's inherent strength allows our signs to be easily handled and installed practically anywhere.
Our coatings are selected for their quality and ability to stand-up to the harsh Canadian winters. We use 1 Shot sign enamel paint - an industry leader for 60 years - for the majority of our signs. When the project demands and exact paint match we turn to Cloverdale Paint's Marine Enamel.
Nothing says quality like a natural varnished cedar finish. We apply at least 4 coats of of high-gloss, exterior varnish to achieve the perfect finish on our signs. We use the best quality, exterior varnish to ensure many years of enjoyment from our signs.
Care is taken to shape the blanks to exacting standards and each signs is sealed prior to the coatings stage. Each of our cedar signs has at least 4 coats of varnish, stain or paint - depending on what the design requires.
The depth of the carved areas need to be deep enough to add interest to the finished sign. The depth also determines the number of times that the sign can be refurbished as each refurbishing takes about 1/8" (3mm) off the face of the sign. De Jager Signs sandcarves each sign to at least 3/4" (18mm) depth ensuring a good-looking sign for many years to come.
